For one day, this hike reminds us of a thousand years of history.

After a visit of Murten, discover its museum to unravel the mysteries that ruled the medieval city and reveal the famous battle of 1476. At the exit, take the "Avenches" path, following the yellow pedestrian indicators. The forest path along the shores of the lake takes you to the Greng peninsula, once occupied by Lake Dwelling populations. This place is pure nature, enjoy a break for a swim in the lake or a barbecue. Your walk continues through the port of Faoug to the Camping Plage Avenches. From there, follow the "eau noire" course to reach the former capital of Switzerland, which saw the fall of the Western Roman Empire in 476. Take the time to visit the museum and the many external remains. The return to Murten can be done by train.

Tip: The Roman amphitheatre is an exceptional setting for many cultural events.
