The Bibera is a stream that runs through Fribourg’s Lake district. As part of a development and regeneration programme, a scenic 6 km-long gravel path has been built along the upper part of the river between Courtaman and Liebistorf.

This secluded trail criss-crosses a diverse, picturesque and largely untouched part of the Fribourg countryside. The development and regeneration programme has opened up lots of natural spaces, which provide not only recreation spots for walkers but also a much welcome habitat for the abundant flora and fauna.

There are also a series of interpretive panels along the way, with information on all the local villages as well as on the many changes that the Bibera valley has undergone over the last ten years. The gravel path is suitable for hikers and cyclists alike. If you’re lucky, you may even catch a glimpse of the resident beaver family.
